Donald Trump is terug – net als de stem van de Netherlands Second video van Zondag met Lubach: Greg Shapiro (bekend van Boom Chicago, BNR, Comedy Central) presenteert met Leaving Trumpland 2.0 een survival gids voor de Amerikaanse presidentsverkiezingen in 2024 en borduurt verder op de verkiezingsspecial Leaving Trumpland (2020) en The Madness of King Donald (2019).
Als Trump verliest, dan laten we Trumpland hopelijk voorgoed allemaal achter ons. Maar wat als hij wint? Zal Shapiro dan ooit nog kunnen terugkeren naar zijn geboorteland?
Steeds weer krijgt Shapiro de vraag: “Maar wil je dan niet dat Trump weer president wordt?”
Zijn antwoord daarop is hetzelfde als Mark Rutte ooit in het Witte Huis zei: “Haha! No!”
Leaving Trumpland 2.0 is een mix van standup and cabaret, met een op Trump geïnspireerde improvisatie aan het einde. In Leaving Trumpland – geschreven tijdens de pandemie in 2020 – houdt Shapiro de aanhangers van Trump verantwoordelijk voor de dood van zijn stiefvader. Een comeback van Trump is volgens hem net zo welkom als covid 2.0. Hij legt het uit in zijn
meest persoonlijke voorstelling ooit: Leaving Trumpland 2.0. In 2020 hebben niet veel mensen Leaving Trumpland 1.0 kunnen zien. Maar een aantal recensenten zag de voorstelling wel.

LEAVING TRUMPLAND 2.0 – A 2024 ELECTION SURVIVAL GUIDE
The voice of the ‘Netherlands Second’ viral video is back! Greg Shapiro (Boom Chicago, Comedy Central, BNR, ZDF) presents a survival guide for US election 2024. If Trump loses, then we will all be leaving Trumpland. But if he wins, will Shapiro ever feel comfortable returning to the country of his birth? Shapiro keeps hearing the question:
“don’t you want Trump to be president again?” His answer is the same thing Mark Rutte
said in the White House: “Haha! No.”
Leaving Trumpland 2.0 is a mix of standup and storytelling, with a bit of Trump-inspired improvisation at the end. Shapiro wrote Leaving Trumpland 1.0 in 2020 – during COVID.
He argues that a Trump comeback would be about as welcome as COVID 2.0. In Shapiro’s most personal moment, he shares the details of how COVID killed his step- father, due to Trump’s fantasyland followers. Leaving Trumpland 2.0 is Shapiro’s most personal show yet.
Due to COVID, not many people saw Leaving Trumpland 1.0. But critics did.
