A GIANT A GENIUS

Laat jezelf in het diepe gooien en ga mee op een reis die je niet snel zult vergeten. Een zuivere en pakkende zanglijn voert je mee over een donkere zee temidden van een storm aan gitaren en drums. De muziek brengt je naar een andere plek in realiteit en geest. Pakkende meeslepende passages soms rustig, dan weer hard smeden alles tot één geheel, en dat geheel is A Giant A Genius. In de huidige formatie en het nieuwe werk is de band in topvorm waarbij de EP “Dying Grass Moon” nog maar het begin is.

Ontstaan

Gevormd vanuit oud Kill.Caress en Ni Hao leden heeft A Giant A Genius een lange zoektocht achter de rug naar het vinden van een stabiele ritmesectie. Nu deze eindelijk is gevonden in een ex-bassist van Wasted Bullet en de drummer van Atlantis, is de band een toegewijd geheel van ervaren muzikanten met ieder veel podiumervaring, die weten hoe je sfeer neerzet.

Muziek

A Giant A Genius speelt zware doch melodieuse muziek met cleane zang, af en toe met een randje. Bij het schrijven is één ding belangrijk: Voelen we de muziek?
Dit werkt ook bij het publiek. De band heeft een duidelijk eigen stijl en met afwisselende songstructuur is het een muzikaal pakkend en intrigerend geheel. De muziekstijl valt het beste te omschrijven qua genre als een mix tussen post-rock en post-metal. Bands met wie A Giant A Genius vergeleken wordt zijn onder andere: Failure, Cult Of Luna, Deftones, Cave in, en Nirvana.

HVALROSS

Hvalross is a four piece hard rocking band, not from Norway as the name would suggest, but from the South of the Netherlands. The band saw first light in the spring of 2018, but the members have been rocking since they were teenagers in the late eighties. Hvalross wants to honour these times. The hard rock and heavy metal from the seventies and the eighties therefore has a strong base in their sound and lyrics, supplemented with influences from contemporary stoner and heavy rock music. It is said that you can hear influences from Mastodon, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. Expect the classic compact four-piece rock band, in a set up just like our heroes Black Sabbath, with melodic classic hard rock vocals over a rhythmic band. Heavy and monstrous like a walrus combined with the energetic stage performance the band has developed over the years.

In October 2020 Hvalross released their debut album ‘Cold Dark Rain’ on the regular streaming platforms. Because of the bands sentiments for the good old eighties, it is also released on ‘cold rain’ coloured vinyl. The album was well received and Hvalross got representation by Hard Life Promotions. Sadly, Covid did not make it possible to promote the album live and also made original drummer Tristan decide to quit the band in 2021. Hvalross quickly got back in battle formation with our good friend and drummer Marc. The band is back on the road, the gig list is filling up nicely, and are in the process of recording the second album.
